The project for the Construction of a Teacher Training College for Secondary School Teachers in Lilongwe (Amendment)

On 13th December, 2013, His Excellency Shuichiro Nishioka, the Ambassador of Japan to Malawi exchanged notes with Hon. Maxwell Mkwezalamba, the Minister of Finance in the Republic of Malawi. The Notes are for the Project for Improvement of Blantyre City Roads (Phase III) and the Project for Construction of a Teacher Training College for Secondary School Teachers in Lilongwe.

 

The Government of Japan approved a grant amounting to JPY602 million (equivalent to USD5.9 million) for the Project for Improvement of Blantyre City Roads (Phase III). This grant will facilitate completion of repairs on Chipembere Highway from Yianakis to Illovo roundabout in Limbe. It is envisaged the project will provide road safety among users through reduction of accidents and will contribute to the economic development of the country.


Secondly the Government of Japan approved another grant amounting to JPY1.327 billion (equivalent to USD13 million) for the Project for Construction of a Teacher Training College for Secondary School Teachers. This grant will be used for the construction of training college classrooms, library and also an affiliated secondary school and staff houses.
